MUSES-C (Hayabusa)

The HAYABUSA(MUSES-C) Mission will investigate an asteroid known as an earth-approaching type. Through this mission, the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) intends to establish the technology to bring back samples of an asteroid's surface to earth (sample return). However small the sample amount may be, as it will enable detailed analysis on earth, its scientific significance is enormous.

MUSES-C is an ongoing mission which is scheduled to return its asteroid sample to Earth in 2010. It was developed by JAXA.

TiNi FC3-20-16SR2 Frangibolts are used to deploy the main boom and to set return capsule into the reentry module. Also, 2 TiNi P5 Pinpullers are used to switch three sample cases.
