The Beagle 2 project is the British led effort to land on Mars as part of the European Space Agency's Mars Express Mission launched in June 2003 and was due to land on Mars in December 2003.A host of TiNi Actuators were onboard to deploy various instruments including the piercing ram which was designed to penetrate the Martian surface and perform sampling analysis.
