Frangibolt Model FC12

The FC12 Frangibolt Actuator was developed for Honeywell’s Othello program. This unique application uses the Frangibolt Actuator to stretch rather than break the ¾” Fastener shown.  The threaded ends are used to attach to a system which requires 25,000 lb preload to support the payload during launch.  Once in orbit, the actuator is used to generate up to 30,000 lbs to permanently stretch the Bolt by 0.050 inch.  This in turn relieves the system preload thereby enabling the instrument being supported.
