P5-405-RS-LT Pinpuller  

 

The “LT” (Low Temperature) series Pinpuller was first qualified by INSYS Limited for the European Space Agency’s (ESAs) Mars Express mission.  In this case, the P5 Pinpuller will be used to deploy the “Beagle 2” Lander upon Martian touch down scheduled for Christmas day 2003. 
Negative 150 degrees Celsius operational capability was achieved by incorporating a TiNi element which is both longer in length and larger in diameter.  By comparison to our standard P5 Pinpuller, this is evident in a body length which 0.25” longer and a 0.7 ampere higher minimum current requirement.
Otherwise the “LT” series Pinpuller is identical to our standard P5 in offering a simple and eloquent release function for smaller spacecraft deployables.
