P5-403-10S Pinpuller  

 

The Pinpuller model P5-403-10S was custom developed for the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft.  It uses TiNi’s patented trigger mechanism to release the engagement pin with 5 lbs of force and 0.25” of stroke. 

Weighing less than 10 grams and standing less than 1.0” tall, this embodiment demonstrates how small an SMA actuator can be. 

As with all TiNi Actuators the P5-403-10S was fully field reset-able and incorporated an auto shut off switch.
