SOC Actuator Model SC100

The SOC (Solar Occultation Channel) Actuator was developed for South West Research Institute (San Antonio Texas).  This device serves as an aperture to the “Persi Alice” instrument to be flown on the New Horizons mission to Pluto.   The function of the SMA actuator is to open and close the sliding gate which allows light to enter the instrument.   Once again TiNi Aerospace was able to draw on it’s years of experience in working with SMAs to design a simple solution to this application.
