The ERM
is a uniquely simple and effective device which can be used in many
Aerospace applications that require high load holding capability and
instantaneous release. They can also be used in other remote release
applications whether for underwater or on-ground systems
Below are some application concepts.
Bottom Mount
• A common configuration
ideally suited for deployment of spacecraft solar panels
• The load path through
the Actuator body allows for the incorporation of Strain Gages to
provide accurate measure of preload
(see Load Feedback)
Top Mount
• Top Mount brings the separation interface closer to the mounting plane
which is necessary for applications such as cover doors.
• Figure also shows the importance of the ERMs swivel capability in applications where
the deployable is hinged at a close
distance to the Actuator.
Clevis Connection
• This type of
arrangement can be used as a launch lock for linkage assemblies commonly
found in large deployable structures.
•
The Clevis connection provides an additional degree of freedom.
Stud or Bolt:
System preload is generated by threading directly into the coupler
with a bolt or stud.
Hook:
Convenient connection method for applications which require quick
connection typically in 1G environment.
Cable:
Cable
release can also be used in conjunction with end fittings as part of
more complex systems.
Custom Configurations As with
all TiNi Actuators custom configurations are readily attainable with minimum
effort. Detailed Specification
