Frangibolt® Concept
The animation on this page shows the 3 simple steps associated with using the Frangibolt. Namely:

1) Compress or Reset the Actuator to its enabled position using the tool provided.

2) Assemble the Frangibolt joint* with the Actuator, Notched Fastener and Bearing Washers as shown. Preload the assembly by tightening to the prescribed torque.

3) Power the Frangibolt to elongate the Actuator and fracture the Fastener thereby releasing the item(s) secured.

This process can be repeated many times as part of Acceptance Testing (both component and system level) prior to final usage.

* Please note that the particular configuration (including use of cup-cone interface) shown is intended to be an example only. A "releasable joint" using the Frangibolt can be configured in numerous different ways.
