Frangibolt® Concept The figure below shows in cross section a typical Frangibolt joint assembly. Operation involves the following 3 easy steps. 1) Compress the Actuator to it's enabled position. 2) Assemble the Frangibolt joint with the Actuator, Notched Fastener, and Bearing Washers as shown. Preload the assembly by tightening to the prescribed torque. 3) Activate the heater to elongate the Actuator and fracture the Fastener thereby releasing the item(s) secured.
