Frangibolt^® in Series

Mechanical redundancy with the Frangibolt can also be achieved by simply stacking Actuators onto a common bolt as shown.
In this manner, actuation of either Frangibolt causes the bolt to break and release the deployable.

This approach, however, introduces some added compliancy into the joint which must be compensated for. This is done by reducing the Actuators preload capability for each of the Frangibolt sizes.
